

I reached out to Synology for advice and it turns out that my key may have been used elsewhere and someone else has registered it to their device. I tried to add the key back to my DS215j and received the same error that it had already been activated elsewhere. I then deactivated the key from the DS215j as per the guidance at. I recently bought a DS1019+ and when I went to migrate the key, the activation process failed even though both NAS were linked to my Synology account. I previously purchased an additional Synology surveillance station camera licence from eBay for 42 EUR (so pretty much market rate but I didn't have much choice since I couldn't find any available in stores where I lived at the time) and received the key back in 2015. You can select up to 30, 60 or 90 days.Thought I'd share this since this seems to be a trap for young players like me. While the rental period is usually 30 days, it can be customized on the Surveillance Station user interface. The cost charged is $49 for the rental period. For example, if you want to install three additional cameras, you will have to pay the Synology surveillance license for it three times. It only determines whether you are ready to apply the license on Surveillance Stationīut yes, the cost charged is not for the device but for the license you are required to purchase the license for every camera that you set up on your Surveillance Station. Note for the latter, obtaining the license number has no relation to the validity of the license.

However, you do need to enter the license number on your PC. You CAN simply apply the license key on the Surveillance Station user interface. In the first place, you do NOT have to purchase the license pack. Standard shipping costs will not be refunded.
